If there were more of these clever well-located hides today, I would be doing more geocaching. This was the kind of geocache that was the norm back in the day. This cache was cleverly hidden and I didn't have to go off-trail to find it. There was a short trail running throughout the park. I knew about the park, but had never visited before. It was in a nice wooded neighborhood park. This particular geocache was a real treat. This year I celebrated my 10th anniversary of geocaching. Now I only find about 25 geocaches a year.ĭespite changing from a hardcore geocacher to a very casual geocacher, I have still managed to find a geocache on September 29th of every year. I fell in love with photography and geocaching became even less of a priority. The game changed too, deviating away from pleasant parks and tricky-but-fair hides toward lamppost caches and caches that required traversing tick-infested overgrowth. With only so much leisure time and my health taking precedence, geocaching fell by the wayside. Geocaching wasn't enough of a workout, so I took up bicycling. I needed more strenuous physical activity. For the next three years I was a very active geocacher, finding hundreds of caches a year. Geocaching combined my interest (and expertise) in geography with my interest in technology. Between my internship and looking for a full-time job, I felt the need for a hobby. I had just finished my master's degree in geography and was working as an intern. ![]() I found my first geocache September 29, 2004. ![]()
